Aqueduct: Friday, 4/1 Plays - Pete's Picks

Writer: Little PeteLittle Pete

Spring time racing in New York on the 1st of April and we are at the Big A for 8 races today. I will be condensing my plays to just the number and will be taking down the early double (Races 1-2) and a middle pick 3 ( Races 3-5) . Big Pete will have his full breakdown on his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 6-8). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 2, 6 Cost: 12.00

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R6: 3, 4, 5

R7: 5, 7, 8

R8: 5, 9, 10 Cost: $ 27.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 2:

Most will see the big fig that Cross Island generated last time off a long layoff. That was against bottom claimers and the front runners were stopping badly. I will try to beat her with (5) APRIL ANTICS. Fitting that it falls on April fools. She has been double digits for her entire career until they hammered her last time but that didn't work out. She comes back and finds the right field. She handles the off going and gets a rider switch for this. All systems go.

$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00

$ 7.00 Ex 5 w/ 1, 6 Cost $ 14.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 6:

Not a lot of drama in this 1M State bred Optional Claimer. Both favorites are worthy and we'll lean on those two to get it done. (5) DR ARDITO has back to back wins as he progresses through these state bred races. He's only facing four others and doesn't need to improve much to beat these old timers. (4) DADDY KNOWS has back to back figs that will be tough to beat if he can duplicate. Both of those efforts came after the Englehart claim so maybe Jeffrey Knows how to push this guys buttons. (3) JUST RIGHT has some late kick to him so if the two fav's go at it, maybe he can sneak up on them.

$ 7.00 Ex 4, 5 w/ 3, 4, 5 Cost $ 28.00

Race 7:

Short fields continue as two scratch come out for this sprint. (5) ACTUARY gets a rider switch and the cut back. He looked awful last time but got claimed none the less. He's the ML favorite with a lot to prove so I'll use defensively and try to beat him with the two outside runners. (7) BLAME IT ON BRUTUS has the only win on an off surface. His best race on paper. It was also at the 6F distance so he gets that same set up today. Worht a shot at the 8:1 ML. (8) BRUNATE dropped to this level last time and never got involved. Bond losses weight for his runner with the hot bug up and I'm expecting a better showing today.

$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 7, 8 w/ 3, 5, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00

Race 8:

(10) BOLD JOURNEY takes a step back from G3 and Stakes action to face NW1X NY Breds. Probably the right move as he may not want distance and the cut back to 6.5F fits well. There is not a lot of punch in this group so if Lezcano can break cleanly and stay out of trouble, it may end up as a public workout for Mott. (5) KEY POINT is from the Brown barn and won first time out. He was bet heavy and ran like he has a future. I'll be shocked if someone else in here can beat the top two.

$ 7.00 Ex 5, 10 w/ 5, 9, 10 Cost $ 28.00
