Aqueduct: Friday January 1/24 Plays - Pete's Picks

Writer's picture: Little PeteLittle Pete

Another chilly day as we start the weekend with 8 races at the Big A. No feature as I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double starting in R2 (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 3-5). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 6-8). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $ 5.00 Early Double:

R1: 1, 5

R2: 1, 4 Cost: $ 20.00

Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R3: 1, 3, 6

R4: 5, 7

R5: 1, 3, 6 Cost: $ 18.00

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R6: 2, 4, 6

R7: 4, 5, 7

R8: 3, 6, 8, 10 Cost: $ 36.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

(3) MAGNIFICENT MILE drops slightly and figures to get a nice set up for his late kick. The connections are struggling but most of them in here are too. Rice's runner will get over bet so the morning line should hold. f

I’ll use (1) Entry and (6) Lost In Rome in the exacta.

$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 3, 6 Cost $ 18.00

We’ll also use (3) Magnificent Mile in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.

(5) Shehanah or (7) Enigmatic in the 4th.

$ 7.00 Daily Double 3 w/ 5, 7 Cost $ 14.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 6:

(4) EMBRACEABLE GAL is coming out of a lukewarm barn right now and sports back-to-back solid runs at this level. Manny now takes over, which is the cherry on top. (2) MOMMASGOTTAGUN will take some action as this Gun Runner has improved in all three starts. The question is, will she need one after being off for half the year? I like the "other" Rice at a better price. (6) FIRST CLASS CAT has collected checks all year and ran her best race last time out against open company. She moves back in against the NY crowd and gets to stretch out to 7F.

$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 2, 4, 6 Cost $ 18.00

Race 7:

(4) J J'S JOKER won't mind the extra furlong as Potts is hitting the board 58% of the time. Not so much in the win column, but JJ has improved each time out for this barn. (5) SMILE MON is the one most will lean on with Atras and Franco teaming up. 1-1 ML seems a little short, but we'll use defensively. (7) MO REWARDS ships back in with a solid 2nd at Parx. Ness brings them in ready to run, and he too is hitting over 50% in the money.

$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 5, 7 Cost $ 18.00

Race 8:

(10) BREAK THE FALL will be tough as Franco takes over and breaks outside the other speeds. They will be aggressive and probably take them all the way. The other main speed is (3) OMEY ISLAND. These two can potentially go at it and hurt both of their chances. That's how I'll play it and just use them defensively in case one of them gets loose. I'll look for (6) WIND DANCER to get on track turning for home. The others need to back up a little, and that could be the case as a couple of others may want to join the party up front. The 7F may have been too far for this War Dancer last time, so the small cutback works for him. I'll also have to use the first-time starter (8) BILLY AND PETE for obvious reasons.

$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 6, 10 w/ 3, 6, 8, 10 Cost $ 18.00
