Aqueduct: Gotham Day Saturday, 3/4, Plays - Pete's Picks

Writer's picture: Little PeteLittle Pete

Ten races on this cold and wet Saturday. We have the Busher for 3yr old fillies, the Tom Fool for our elders and finish with the 3yr colts in the Gotham. I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 4-6). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 7-9 ). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $2.00 Early Double:

R1: 3, 5, 6

R2: 1, 6, 7
Cost: $18.00

Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 4, 5, 8

R6: 7, 8, 9

R7: 2, 4, 7

Cost: $27.00

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R8: 1, 3, 6

R9: 3, 4, 11, 13

R10: 3, 5, 6, 11

Cost: $ 48.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

(4) MILTON THE MONSTER figures to take some action. I’m drawing a line through his Toboggan as something wasn’t right with him. His two races before that were solid and on an off track. I’m looking for him to bounce back with a nice run today.

I’ll use with (6) Kinetic Sky and (7) Famished

$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 4, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00

We’ll also use (4) Milton The Monster in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.

(4) LaVita Sofiat or (6) Asset Purchase in the 4th.

$ 7.00 Daily Double 4 w/ 4, 6 Cost $ 14.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

I can’t get past the two favorites in this G3 Tom Fool. (3) RUNNINGSONOFAGUN has been consistent facing graded company. His last two jump off the page and makes this guy a contender. (6) NAKATMI ships in for Ward with some fast times. His two best races have come on the slop and Davis picks up the call. There’s a lot to like as he exits a G1 for this. (1) EASTERN BAY is the savor for me. If the top two don’t bring their A game, this 9 year old has been sharp for over a year now and continues to produce runs.

$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 3, 6 w/ 1, 3, 6 Cost $ 12.00

Race 8:

Cox sends out two players. (11) SLIP MAHONEY was a gutsy winner last time and figures to grind it out again. (13) EYEING CLOVER beat up some NW2L last time but did it impressively. The one who breaks best gets the advantage. I landed (3) MR SWAGGER who clearly wants more ground. He caught a tough Register in his maiden score and that one jogged next time out. With Thunder Gulch underneath, this guy will relish both the moisture and 1M distance today. I’ll use Brown defensively as he usually shows up with runners in these days. This Arrogate, (4) UNCORRELATED, won easy on debut and Franco really didn’t ask him. The stretch out is fine and should handle the mud with Harlan’s Holiday underneath.

$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 3, 4 w/ 3, 4. 11, 13 Cost $ 18.00

Race 9:

Both (3) CALLALOO and (11) MOTION TO STRIKE want the lead or just off it. With Motion stretching out, my guess is Davis will go and try to steal it. Vargas might get the perfect trip down inside and tip this Trinniberg out for the stretch drive. Both run well over an off track. (5) BRACIOLE is rolling right now. He’s been doing it against NW2L claimers but his time and speed figures match up well to this group. Oscar is hot and the Micromange’s handle the mud as good as any. (6) VICTORIOUS WAVE ships in for Atras and picks up Franco. A nice bullet last time fot this.

$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 3, 11 w/ 3, 5, 6, 11 Cost $ 18.00
