Aqueduct: Saturday, 4/2, Plays - Pete's Picks

Writer's picture: Little PeteLittle Pete

We have a Spring-like afternoon of racing at Aqueduct and we are once again locked in to cashing some tickets. I will be condensing my plays to the numbers and looking to take down the early double (Races 1-2) and a middle pick 3 ( Races 4-6 ). Big Pete will have his full breakdown on his "Play of the Day" and try to cash another late pick 3 (Races 7-9). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

At 1 for 15, it’s hard to back the favorite, I’m Fine, in this spot. I’ll go to the outside stall with the now mare (6) GIRL OF TOSCONOVA. She has put together back to back winning moves with Vargas up for both. They try it again and now face her fellow NY Bred girls. The distance seemed to help her as well.

$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00

We’ll use her with (1) Raffinity and (2) Freddymo Factor underneath

$ 7.00 Exacta 6 w/ 1, 2 Cost $ 14.00

We’ll also use Girl Of Tosconova in a DAILY DOUBLE play.

Both (2) Mo Nighean Donn and (5) Cousin Kristi look solid in the 4th

$ 7.00 Double 6 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 14.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

With speed signed on from several in here, I can’t resist the old vet (4) TALE OF MIST. He will take up his usual spot mid-pack and wait for the others to tire. Most, if not all, are well past their prime but Mist shows up every so often. I’m hoping today is one of them. (5) DREAM BIGGER was once a NY stud dominating his rivals. That was a long time ago but he has recently shown some life and with the move to a different barn, he figures to turn it up a notch. Two strong bullets for the new connections jump off the page. (1) DEPUTY FLAG is one of the speeds. If he’s allowed a breather, sometimes these old timers forget to stop like he did two back. We’ll use as a savor.

$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 4, 5 w/ 1, 4, 5 Cost $ 12.00

Race 8:

Pletcher has two in here and both look strong. (3) FIRST CONSTITUTION scored and easy win against lesser foes but the time was very good. If they leave him alone up front it will make this one lap around Aqueduct look easy. His stable mate (2) UNTREATED might not let that happen. McCarthy probably stays close throughout and tips out through the stretch today. He faced much better last time and hopefully switches leads turning for home. We’ll try to get by with only these two.

$ 7.00 Ex 2 w/ 3, 5 Cost $ 20.00

$ 3.00 Ex 3, 5 w/ 2, 3, 5 Cost $ 12.00

Race 9:

(7) RIA’S ANGEL started his career at this level and was a respectable 2nd. Then the connections got aggressive or greedy and moved him up. That didn’t work out so he may be well spotted today and draws McCarthy’s attention. (2) VINCENT threw in the towel last time but the time before that he ran a big number. The move to Gomez jumps off the page and they are going to have to catch this guy for the money. (1) ON THE HILL dropped in for the tag last time and showed a big improvement. If he holds at 6:1 ML, he’s the one I want. He figures to save ground behind the speeds and come late. (3) TONALISTIC ships in and posted a strong gate workout a few days ago. Maybe the new scenery is what he needed.

$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 1, 2 w/ 1, 2, 3, 7 Cost $ 18.00
