Aqueduct: Sunday, 1/1, Plays - Pete's Picks

Writer's picture: Little PeteLittle Pete

Happy New Year!!!! Let's have a great year and cash some tickets. I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 4-6). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 7-9). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

R2: 4, 6

Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R4: 4, 5, 6

R5: 2, 3

R6: 3, 4

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R7: 1, 2, 5

R8: 1, 2, 6

R9: 1, 7, 10, 11

Cost: $ 36.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

Battle Bling doesn’t seem to care for 9F and Falconet has not beaten much lately. I can’t resist the 9:2ML on the rail (1) SWEET WILLEMINA. She’s breed to run all day as they stretch her back out. Lake usually comes prepared when he ships him and picks up Franco for the one lap around the Big A track. She was outrun last time going shorter but closed with interest late. She’ll save ground and come with her run when it counts.

We'll try to juice up the exacta with (3) Tonal Vision or (5) Falconet.

$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00

$ 7.00 Ex 1 w/ 3, 5 Cost $ 14.00

We’ll also use (1) SWEET WILLEMINA in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.

(5) Prisoner drops and can control the front or (6) Reed Kan wakes up and comes with a run in the 4th.

$ 7.00 Daily Double 1 w/ 5, 6 Cost $ 14.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

(2) BUILT TO LAST has speed all of a sudden. He will go and hope no one catches him. (5) MAJOR SPIN is the major threat. Rudy claimed two back and continues to cut him back to his preferred style, sprinting. Gomez is likley aggressive early and tries to bottom them out. (1) TENEBRIS just got by Major Spin when they met last time and Lezcano is given the keys. I'll lean on this gelding as they can save some ground from the one hole and he can handle the off.

$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 2, 5 Cost $ 18.00

Race 8:

(1) AMUNDSON looks like the inside speed and can give them the slip but I'm hesitant about the 7F. But the good news is that Amundson has a partner, (1A) KINETIC SKY, that can grab the baton and get this entry to the finish line. (6) STAGE LEFT will sit just off Amundson and try to reel him in. His last speed figure tops all of them in here. The interesting horse in here is (2) CHESTERTOWN. This Tapit would handle this group in his prime. He's been in the shed for 6 months and Asmussen brings him back here. Reguar rider is up and would be no surprise if he's ready to roll. I'll include as a saver.

$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 2, 6 Cost $ 18.00

Race 9:

I'm guessing the same tactic will be the instructions on (10) BC GLORY DAYS for Olver. Try to bottom out this suspect field. The low connections will likely keep this 8:1ML. I'm looking for (1) LUCKY BRODY to turn the table on BC. They get to save some ground on the rail and gather momentum around the turn. He hits the board almost 50% which is high for this level. If there is left over moisture in the track, I can't pass on the Exaggerator gelding (11) BOURBON'S HOPE. They tried better last time but that didn't pane out. The put him back where he belongs and should avoid any traffic. Look for him to stalk and attack when Lezcano gives him the signal.

$ 7.00 WPS 11 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 1, 11 w/ 1, 7, 10, 11 Cost $ 18.00
