Aqueduct: Sunday February 2/02 Plays - Pete's Picks

Writer's picture: Little PeteLittle Pete

An 8 race card on this cold Sunday at the Big A. No feature as I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double starting in R2 (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 3-5). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 6-8). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $ 5.00 Early Double:

R1: 2

R2: 1, 5 Cost: $ 10.00

Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R3: 1, 4, 8

R4: 3, 4, 5

R5: 1, 4, 6 Cost: $ 27.00

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R6: 1, 2, 6

R7: 2, 3, 5, 7

R8: 5, 6, 7, 8 Cost: $ 48.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

(1) CAN'T BEAT ME is the sleeper in here. All eyes will be on Return The King, but he drops off the cliff for this 10k company. Damaged Goods alert. Then there's Jake, who is way past his prime. Both figure to go at it and set up the Barrow runner who stayed at NYRA to train after shipping in from FL. He should be closing in with Chalky Cat late.

I’ll use (4) Chalky Cat and (6) Jake Rocks in the exacta.

$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 4, 6 Cost $ 18.00

We’ll also use (1) Can't Beat Me in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.

(3) Fast Amendment or (5) Albedo in the 4th.

$ 7.00 Daily Double 1 w/ 3, 5 Cost $ 14.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 6:

(1) QUICK HAMMER goes out first time for Rice after he destroyed an easy group last time but did it nicely. Same tactics today. (6) G T FIVE HUNDRED has been on a roll for Maker in his last two. More of the same today as Manny had a choice and chose this one. (2) HATCH has been a new animal of late and beat G T when they met last time. He'll have to catch that one again.

$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 2, 6 Cost $ 18.00

Race 7:

(5) BLOWN COVER was claimed and put on the shelf for Rice after a poor attempt at the Spa. This guy could be set up for his stablemate (7) WAITLIST or he jogs on his own. Either way, Rice has a solid one-two punch in here. Potts also has two, but I prefer only (3) MELT WITH YOU of the two. The slight cutback to 1M works in his favor. (2) SCAT TU TAP is the one to beat. He's beaten several in here in his last two races and likely saves ground until the stretch drive. I'll take the 5:2 ML if it holds.

$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 2, 5 w/ 2, 3, 5, 7 Cost $ 18.00

Race 8:

(8) SHAMAN PRINCESS has speed, but so do several in here. If she can clear from out there, she has a shot to go all the way. (6) SHORT SHIFT drops back in for 16k after a good attempt against better. She goes out 2nd time for a hot barn in search of a win instead of 2nd and 3rd's. I'll include Rudy and (7) ACCELERINA, who is yet another one with speed. All this speed leads me to (5) ALLEY'S SONG to come late and ruin the party for the front runners. She needs a duel up front to set her up late. She gets that today.

$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 5, 6 w/ 5, 6, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00
