Spooky SZN is upon us and we have a great day for racing in NY with a nice 11 race card to cash in some tickets. We have a 4 Stake day at BAQ, which is co-headlined by the Gr.1 Woodward in race 7 and the Gr.1 Champagne in race 10. I will be locked in to taking down the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 6-8). Big Pete will provide a couple of his "Plays of the Day" and close out the card with the late pick 3 (Races 9-11). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's Early Double:
Race 1:
I landed on two firsters in this NY MSW and I am leaning heavy on the (5) Clover Street. I think that Trevor McCarthy is going to be extremely aggressive from the gate and the horse will have plenty left in the tank to sustain a huge run first time out. (3) Miss Fashionista is training extremely well coming into this one and will benefit from the aggressive rider in Irad Ortiz and the favorable post position. I will also be including (4) Banterra who has some experience under her belt and that does make a difference late down the stretch.
$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 3,4,5 Cost: $12.00
Race 2:
(5) Justifiable Belle is going to improve second time out and should have a fanned out trip down the stretch to compete for the wire first. The muddy surface should only improve this horse's trip and the most likely winner. (9) River Oaks is a dangerous horse in here IMO. The switch in surfaces and the pedigree leads me to believe that this horse is going to have a strong stretch drive. (3) Nyxed is my last play to the inside from the Bill Mott barn. This horse is bred to handle the distance and I think will be forwardly placed early that makes a lane opening late to run down the front runners.
$3.00 Ex Box 3,5,9 Cost: $9.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
Not a lot of power in this lower claiming sprint. All have seen their better days on the race track. Just one stands out a little as (2) LOST IN ROME may have a little life yet after his two decent runs at the Spa. He was a good 2nd at this level in July and came back late in the meet to run strong against much better. Now he’s back to the right level and picks up Rosario. Maybe 2:1 ML is a little low for this guy but the rest are really struggling right now. They all would need a major form reversal.
I’ll use him with 1, 2 & 3
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 2, 3, 4 Cost $ 18.00
We’ll also use (2) Lost In Rome in R3 and try to cash a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We’ll use (2) Bees And Honey and (4) Brattle House in the 4th.
$ 7.00 Double 2 w/ 2, 4 Cost $ 14.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
Two first time starters exit a Sept 17th work out where they were 1st and 5th fastest of 153 runners that day. (1) Cascais was one and the other was (4) LIMITS OF POWER. This Good Magic followed that up with a swift breeze and 6.5F seems perfect with Vindication underneath. Davis goes out for Shug who is off to a nice start this meet.
We’ll include these two first time starter and try to beat Full Moon Madness.
(1) Cascais and (8) Full Moon Madness for the 2nd slot.
$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Exacta Box 1, 4, 8 Cost $ 18.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 6:
We are scratched off the turf in here and the outside post positions look to be the logical play. (12) War Terminator sticks around in here and the likely favorite come post time. This horse is bred to handle a wet track and I trust Irad Ortiz to make up the outside post position disadvantage quickly. (15) Storm Shooter looks solid taking a step up in class and should be aggressively ridden throughout. (14) Fenway is going to avoid some early congestion and that makes a world of difference late down the stretch. (6) Bold Journey is my last play in here gaining an advantage to the inside and Jose Ortiz sticking around for the FOURTH time. This horse will be bet down from the 10/1 morning line number and should make some noise throughout.
$3.00 WPS 12 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 12,14 w/ 6,12,14,15 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 6,15 w/ 6,12,14,15 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
(1) Life is Good is not worth truing to beat in the Woodward and going to single here as most will. Irad has the inside post and should have plenty of horse to get it done against this relatively weaker field.
$10.00 WIN 1 Cost: $10.00
Race 8:
I have a strong opinion on (4) Alluring Angel who should be forwardly placed and improve with the extra distance. I trust Jose Lezcano to challenge horses behind him to catch them late and I think that pays off with a trip to the winner’s circle. With the single in the second leg, I will spread here as coverage. (2) Free Look is facing winners for the first time and Chad Brown horses are always tuned up next time out after breaking their maidens. (3) Pleasant Passagegets a play in here from me because of the style of win last time out. It was at this distance and the horse showed some battle in her late down the stretch. My last play will be (6) Be Your Best who is going to be the favorite come post time for good reason and we should expect a fanned out trip coming down the stretch.
$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00
$5.00 Ex 4 w/ 2,3,6 Cost: $15.00
$1.00 Ex 2,3,6 w/ 2,3,4,6 Cost: $9.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 9:
(5) YES AND YES rolled through the allowance conditions and then took a step back when he faced stakes caliber. He was placed 2nd last time making a nice run through the stretch. His form may be coming back and this G3 didn’t come up that strong. (7) THIN WHITE DUKE is the other Donk who will take some action. He got good recently and seems to have upped his game. I have to use him while he’s hot. (2) ARZAK is where I landed. He shipped in to the Spa two back and didn’t disappoint against Golden Pal. He finished right behind Duke that day but he picks up Irad for this and that may be the difference. (6) VOODOO ZIP will get overlooked but has the goods to make a run late. He collects checks and sometimes posts a big fig.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 2, 7 w/ 2, 5, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 10:
Justify has two in here and both were impressive maiden winners. (3) VERIFYING was pressed most of the way and still manage to pull clear. A similar effort puts hi right there. (4) CHAMPIONS DREAM stretches and is bred to like that. He’ll get first jump on the stalkers and try to win it at the quarter pole. I’ll try to beat the favorite, Gulfport, with the Good Magic colt (5) BLAZING SEVENS. He finished well clear of Gulfport that day but I don’t think the slop worked in his favor. He was left with too much to do and couldn’t mount a bid spinning his wheels. Look for him to be a little closer unless the burn themselves out early. The 1M distance will work in his favor and Prat is up.
$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00
$ 5.00 Ex 3, 5 w/ 3, 4, 5 Cost $ 20.00
Race 11:
I like the outside stalls in this finale. (7) TELLAPERFECTTALE has responded well to Gomez with two wins and two seconds. They try it again today and I’m expecting them to hit the board. (10) PATRIA wants that far from Leeloo who continues to do well. With Irad sticking around, this gal now becomes a player and should stalk from her outside post. I want (8) RIBOT’S VALENTINE in this spot. Something must have gone wrong after her Jan maiden breaker as she didn’t race again until early Sept. She clearly needed that race and the slop probably didn’t help. Davis returns and there figures to be enough speed up front to set her up for a big finish. (3) KANT HURRY LOVE is the new shooter as she woke up in a big way in her Spa maiden score. She was L1 that day and she races on it again today. Maybe she needed help with her breathing as she posted a very high speed figure than what she has been recording
