Writer's picture: Little PeteLittle Pete

The Belmont at the Big A meet contunues with an 11 race card today and plenty of opportunities to cash in some tickets. We are going to look to cover as many as we can in here and will be locked in to taking down some horizontal plays. I will be focused on taking down an "early" double (Races 1 & 2) and a Spot pick 3 (Races 6-8). Big Pete will have two of his "Plays of the Day" and close the card with the late pick 3 (Races 9-11). We appreciate you taking a look at our write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3 :

A short field for the G3 Athenia and they appear evenly matched. I will load up on the 5 yr Mare (3) LOVE AND THUNDER who gets her regular rider back. She was stymied through the lane in her lone Spa race and usually hits the board. Jose will keep her in the clear and mow them down late.

The other Brown (5) Kalifornia Queen looks like her danger and (2) Evvie Jets is in a good groove right now.

$ 10.00 Ex 3 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 20.00

We’ll also use (3) Love And Thunder in R3 and try to cash a DAILY DOUBLE play.

We’ll use (2) Hagler drops for this and (5) Printrack has the speed to control the 4th.

$ 10.00 Double 3 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 20.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 5 :

The 9F may have been too far for (4) LET HER INSPIRE U so the shorter 1M, 1 turn should make this front runner tough to catch. She's been on a roll in 2022 and Pletcher has been razor sharp with his stable. She'll be the favorite but is worthy of that label. We'll look for the runner up for value. (1) Bustin Bay ran into a hot Mosienko last time. She will be the danger late. (2) Vallelujah has won her last two dirt track races. She may be on the improve and can sneak into the place spot.

$ 7.00 Ex 4 w/ 1, 2 Cost $ 14.00

$ 3.00 Ex 1, 2 w/ 1, 2, 4 Cost $ 12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 9:

I tried to beat both Brown and Pletcher in here but came up empty. There runners look a knotch better than this group and we need to win to move on. (2) BEST IDEA just caught the next out winner Dr Blute last time. He moves up to the next level but appears to be in great form. He's been keeping good company so he may be able to handle the jump. He'll have to reel in in stable mate (8) MONTEBELLO. He's been postiing big speed figures this year and maybe he didn't like the mud last time. There is very little speed signed on so if he can get comfortable up front, they won't catch him. (7) KEY POINT will be the danger late. His races two and three back will put him in the winners circle. He'll need someone to put pressure up front to seal the deal or Franco will have to do it himself. Either way, this guy will be heard from late.

$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00

$ 5.00 Ex 2, 7 w/ 2, 7, 8 Cost $ 20.00

Race 10:

I'm not a fan of (5) CITY MAN but his numbers stack up well with this suspect group. I'll use defensively and try to beat him. (2) JERRY THE NIPPER has tried turf once and he won rather easily. Pletcher gives him another shot on that surface and the way the barn is going, I can't leave off. (6) SANCTUARY CITY is coming off a nice win vs open company and wasn't far from City Man when they met a few times. I want to try a ridiculus one in here.

(7) ADVANCED STRATEGY has queitly been improving with age. He came off the layoff and finished right behind Sanctuary City in the Kingston. He then tried open company and may have felt the affects of the layoff. They ship him to the Spa for some treatments and switch to Davis. He doesn't need to improve much from his Kingston effort to get the job done here. The 9/11 bullet tells me he ready for a fight.

$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 2, 7 w/ 2, 5, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00

Race 11:

(5) CAPITAL GAL will take a lot of money in this finale on the drop. I'll include defensively only as the drop scares me a little and she has no speed. (9) OAK LOVES A FIGHT looks dangerous for Noda as Dylan looks two sweep the late double for me. (11) LATEST EDITION is a little interesting as she draws in from the AE's. The outside post is the only negative. I'll take the possible lone speed with (3) JANNIE MAE. She gets a cozy spot from the 3 hole with no speed to her inside. Gomez likely will gun here to get position into to the bend and give her a breather around the first turn. She will be tough to pass this time if she gets her way on the front end.

$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 3, 9 w/ 3, 5, 9, 11 Cost $ 18.00
