Sunday racing at the BIG A (Belmont) and we have a really nice 9 race card. We will be looking to cover each of the races today and look forward to closing the weekend out with some winners. I will be focused on the early double (Races 1 & 2) and taking down a spot pick 3 (Races 4-6). Big Pete will have a couple of his "Plays of the Day" and look to close the card with the late pick 3 (Races 7-9). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $1.00 Early Double:
R1: 3, 4, 6
R2: 3, 9, 11, 12
Cost: $12.00
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R5: 1, 2, 8, 12
R6: 1, 3, 7
R7: 1, 4, 6
Cost: $36.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R7: 1, 4
R8: 5, 6, 8, 10
R9: 5, 6, 7, 8, 13
Cost: $ 40.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
(1) NEST will once again dominate this field and probably go off 1:9. The 2nd choice, (2) First To Act, is also a Curlin and both will get this 9F trip very easy. (4) The Grass Is Blue is the other filly who has a win on this Aqueduct oval. We’ll use both of them underneath.
$ 10.00 Exacta 1 w/ 2,4 Cost $ 20.00
We’ll also use (1) NEST in R3 and try to cash a DAILY DOUBLE play.
A firster from Gargan, (6) Tiger Town Boy and Rudy has a Violence colt, (7) Matt Doyle, who last year was dancing with some of the best 3yr olds in the country this year.
$ 10.00 Double 1 w/ 6, 7 Cost $ 20.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 4:
(7) MATT DOYLE has some talent as he was 2nd to Early Voting and Zandon last year. Not to mention a 3rd place finish to Life Is Great. Rudy used a turf sprint for a public workout at the Spa as he was coming off an 8 month vacation. The switch back to dirt and the 7F one turn seems perfect for this Violence colt. He’s worth a shot against a heavy favorite as we should get all of this 6:1 ML.
$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
(1) SWEET MYSTERY figures to be odds on and I can’t see anyone over taking her through the stretch. She couldn’t catch a heavy favorite last time but there are no Truancys in here. We’ll lean heavy on this gal to get it done. I will include (4) MELISSA’S SMILE as a savor and because my daughter Melissa will get angry with me. She ships in from FL, the horse, to take a shot at the big leagues but most in here would struggle at the minor leagues. (2) GRINGOTTS can’t win but can certainly pass tired horses for 2nd. We’ll use them both underneath.
$ 10.00 Ex 1 w/ 2, 4 Cost $ 20.00
Race 8:
With Manny riding well these days, (5) L’IMPERATOR looks likes a must use as he’s posted strong speed figures all year. (8) PAO ALTO is the new shooter as this one ran a decent 2nd first time in the US. Motion brings the jock with the horse as they look strong on the stretch out. I want (6) PIXELATE in this spot. He returned off a vacation to post a strong 3rd at this distance in July and then ran into a tough Somelikeithotbrown going shorter. The 9F works well for this City Zip and the move to Jose works in his favor. (10) PUBLIC SECTOR also wants the longer distance but Irad will need to save some ground somewhere
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 6, 8 w/ 5, 6, 8,10 Cost $ 18.00
Race 9:
(5) LAUGHTER is fresh off the Atras claim and Irad shows up. I prefer the turf for this filly and she may get tough to get by through the lane. (6) ROBYN AND ELI is a bit of a head scratcher. It’s never a good sign when Brown drops this much and the horse doesn’t look damaged in the pp’s. Using defensively. I want the Midnight Lute filly (8) CERRETTA in this spot. She has shown a few middle moves in those long races that make this cutback to 6F look like the right move. Her best race was against MSW and her last may have been too far. All systems go today. (13) MO DAMORNINGGROUCH drawing in scares me a little but she’ll have to navigate from that outside post. (7) ELI DANCER finished right behind Mo and draws better. That could be the difference.
