Belmont: Monday, 5/30, Plays - Pete's Picks

Writer: Little PeteLittle Pete

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! We will be looking to attack the stacked Belmont card of 10 races today, and I will be looking to take down the early double (Races 1-2) and a middle pick 3 (Races 5-7) . Big Pete will have his full breakdown on his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 8-10). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $2.00 Early Double:

R1: 4, 5

R2: 1, 3, 6
Cost: $12.00

Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 4, 8, 9

R6: 1, 4, 7

R7: 2, 4, 8

Cost: $27.00

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R8: 2, 4, 5, 7

R9: 5, 6, 7

R10: 1, 9, 11, 12

Cost: $ 48.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 1:

(5) Royal Currency is the clear "winner" in here on paper and we have to go with hi, and trust Dylan runs a front running score. I will only be including the firster in here, (4) Bern Rosey Bern, who has been training extremely well coming in and is the daughter of Freud; worth an inclusion IMO.

$3.00 Ex 4,5 w/ 2,4,5 Cost: $12.00

Race 2:

(3) She's The One is my top pick in here to sit right behind the lead throughout and wait for the lane to open up and run a huge race. I will also be including the other Clement horse in the (6) Classic Lady who is getting some class relief in here and the outside post should benefit this horse to avoid any early traffic. Joel Rosario will reserve energy throughout the race and make it very interesting late.

$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00

$3.00 Ex 3,6 w/ 1,3,6 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

(10) G MUNNING tried the turf last time and that experiment didn’t work out. He moves back to Big Sandy and a little bit of relief. He’s been knocking heads with a couple of contenders in the Mike Lee later in the card. He gets L1 which may explain his fade last time and Jose is back aboard. They teamed up back in Nov in his maiden win.

Both (1) Aggregation and (8) Pineapple Man look solid underneath.

$ 7.00 WPS 10 Cost $ 21.00

$ 7.00 Exacta 10 w/ 1, 8 Cost $ 14.00

We’ll also use G Munnings in R3 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.

(2) Whistler’s Honor and (4) Nikostratos look solid in the 4th.

$ 7.00Double10 w/ 2, 4 Cost $ 14.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

(4) Rheaume is facing winners for the first time and the debut win was impressive enough to get the nod for me. (8) Out of Sight has the most experience of the bunch and I trust Jose Ortiz to find the lead early and challenge others to catch him late. (9) New Ginya is another horse who won on debut and will get an aggressive ride from the outside to get in position to show off their ability late.

$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 4,8,9 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

The two morning line heavy favorites look great on paper and will be unfortunately playing both. (4) Bank Sting is dropping back down in class and will be a serious wire to wire threat under Rosario. (7) Make Mischief will run a similar race to the outside of (4) Bank Sting and should be battling throughout; which could make it a two horse race. What I do like is (1) Secret Love to break well to the inside and eat up ground late under Johnny V and be a decent price come post time.

$3.00 Ex Box 1,4,7 Cost: $18.00

Race 7:

(2) Yo Cuz is the deserving favorite and should rebound from her last performance. We should expect Jose Ortiz to find the lead early and battle throughout to never give it up. I will also be including (4) Adversity and (8) True Empress, who are exiting the same race that I thought was a key one. I think that both of these horses will keep (2) Yo Cuz in sight and if the heavy favorite is not in top form, then these two should be challenging for the wire late.

$3.00 Ex Box 2,4,8 Cost: $18.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(4) TIN PAN ALLEY won too easy breaking his maiden and seems to have more in the tank. He figures to get a nice set up with speed outside him. Brown has another good one on hands. Pletcher won’t go down easy with (2) BEST IDEA. This Honor Code turns back to 7F after just missing in his last. Johnny V shows up for Repole. (5) ROTKNEE has speed to be dangerous. If he can shake clear early, he’s proven already that he can take them all the way. (7) KAZMIKE is very interesting as he beat a salty group last time when the stretched him out. 7F seems perfect for this Bank Heist.

$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 2, 4 w/ 2, 4, 5, 7 Cost $ 18.00

Race 9:

(7) SOMELIKEITHOTBROWN has won both Mohawk stakes the past two years, his only two attempts against NY Breds. Now he tries the Kingston meeting the same old friends again. He’s a must use but a year older. I want to take a shot with (6) SANCTUARY CITY. He looks to have improved with a little time off as his last two runs as a 5yr old look better then prior races. The jock switch will help as Carmouche has a couple of wins with him. (5) CROSS BORDER dances with the big boys but this might be too short for him. On his best day, he’s G1 material which would handle this group. The presence of Saez is hard to ignore.

$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 5, 6 w/ 2, 5, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00

Race 10:

A decent MSW turf sprint to end this NY showcase day. I’ll use four in here but focus on the Kitten’s Joy filly (9) SMOKIN’ HOT KITTY. She Took money in her debut but may have been a little rusty. She was average for most of the trip then tipped out too late but was no impact. It looked like a learning experience and I think we see the real deal today. Davis sticks and he’s winning races this meet. In no particular order, I’ll include (1) OAK LOVES A FIGHT is getting back to turf and Noda is hot, (11) QUENN OF LIES who may be the speed and (12) CROSSTALK stretching out a little.

$ 7.00 WPS 9 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 9, 12 w/ 1, 9, 11, 12 Cost $ 18.00
