Little Pete's Early Double:
Race 1:
I am leaning on the (5) N Y Anthem in here shipping in from Parx. I know the workouts are not as reliable on the synthetic track, but I think this horse will improve drastically from the debut race. Kendrick will send this horse to the lead early and I think his stamina will be improved in this one. (6) Devil Boy off the long layoff looks to be a contender in here staing at the same level. I think this horse will be off the pace and come on strong come stretch drive. (9) Fortune's Nephew is a firster who gets the Irad play from me. The horse is the current favorite on the board and will look to wire the field.
$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 5,6,9 Cost: $12.00
Race 2:
I am not overthinking and taking the favorites. (2) Ring of Fire is dropping back to the claiming level and always shows out in these races. We should expect Dylan Davis to find a nice spot on the rail to save ground throughout and find that lane late to compete for the wire. The other horse is (7) Standup is getting significant class relief in here and Flavien Prat is getting the mount. This horse should shine against this field and the most likely favorite come post time; which I believe he should be.
$5.00 Ex Box 2,7 Cost: $10.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
I am all in on (5) Officiating being locked in on this one. I am throwing the previous race out when assessing this horse and I think Manny has a strong close on this one. We have plenty of speed in here which should assist (5) Officiating late.
$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 5 w/ ALL Cost: $10.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
(5) BELLA SOFIA only needs to be 75% to tackle these Fillies and Mares. With Saez up, I’m expecting Rudy to have her ready for her 2022 campaign. I’ll use on top and look for (3) KEEP WAITING to come late for 2nd fiddle. She has improved this year in every start and the slight cutback to 6.5F will push Bella late in the game.
$ 10.00 Exacta 5 w/ 3 Cost $ 10.00
We’ll also use Bella Sofia in R3 and try to crash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
(10) Stella Mars and (12) Freedomofthepress look solid in the 4th
$ 7.00 Double 5 w/ 10, 12 Cost $ 14.00
Don’t lose track of (5) OFFICIATING flying back up from Florida in the G3 Run Happy Stakes.
$ 3.00 Pick 3 R3 5 w/ 10, 12 w/ 5 Cost $ 6.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 6:
I am beating the favorite in here and landed on four to kick off the ticket. (3) Lay The Groundwork is facing winners for the first time, but I think will be ready to show out with the switch to turf. This horse has shown speed in the past and I think will be forwardly placed throughout. (7) Angel Palm gets a firmer surface today and will be running her best late down the stretch. (9) Angelinka is making her states debut and is the seasoned vet of the group. I think that makes a huge difference and Irad is hungry to assert his dominance in NY. (10) Caironi is a strong contender in here and with the perfect trip is an extremely dangerous horse. The outside post is not ideal, but I trust Lezcano to allow the horse to run early and save plenty of energy in the sprint to the wire down the stretch.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 3,10 w/ 3,7,9,10 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 7,9 w/ 3,7,9,10 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
(1) Jemography shows up each time out and I trust Irad on a horse that possesses closing speed. (3) ListenToYourHeart is a very dangerous horse at a price. He will be getting a fast track and a lane late to run into. (7) Bronx Bomber won in wire to wire fashion and attracts Jose Ortiz for the mount. The workout leading in leads me to believe he will be in form to run a similar race and that is all I need to include. (9) Seven Lilies is going to involved in this one throughout; I like horses that are going to be ridden aggressively from the jump and the track may be playing fast.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,2 w/ 1,2,7,9 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 7,9 w/ 1,2,7,9 Cost: $6.00
Race 8:
I will be singling to close the ticket with the heavy favorite, (3) Yibir. I think this horse is too good at this distance to beat in here and will be flying down the stretch. I obviously like others in here, but sometimes you need to take some risks!
$20.00 WIN 3 Cost: $20.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 9:
Brisset brings in a pair from Oaklawn. (4) WE THE PEOPLE was on the Derby trail until reality set in with his Arkansas run. They went to the drawing board and are now trying to get back on track. I prefer his partner (6) WESTERN RIVER instead. He takes a major jump here but he’s been keep pace in the morning with his stable mate and and has shown big improvements in both of his 2022 races. Saez makes this an easy call. (5) GOLDEN GLIDER has been tackling the better 3yr olds this spring and comes in with a decent resume. I like Davis taking this mount and a strong bullet two back for this. (1) SET SAIL comes in from Cal for this. A potential lone speed for this blowout winner last time. Don’t see Mandella here too often. A must use for me.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 4, 6 w/ 1, 4, 5, 6 Cost $ 18.00
Race 10:
Brown has a pair of Aces in this G3 turf. (1) ROUGIR made her US debut in last years breeders cup. She re-surfaces here. I’m expecting this barn to have her ready as well as (2) LEMISTA one stall over. She was a fast closing 3rd in this race last year and she looks to have improved in her next two outings. I prefer her over Rougir.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 1, 2 w/ 1, 2, 4 Cost $ 12.00
Race 11:
There’s two that stand out and two outside shots. (4) RIGBY picks up Irad and has two solid runs on this course. The slight cut back to 7F seems right and there is speed to set her up. (6) FINEST WORK also cuts back and has two 3rd place finishes against this level. Prat rides for Weaver as she moves back in against her NY Bred rivals. (7) DUFRESNE has a win on the grass and two strong efforts against open company. She goes back on L and takes a drop in class. She’s worth a shot at this 10:1 ML. (9) PALACE GOSSIP was a solid 2nd in her 2022 debut against similar. A Re-Pete of that effort puts her right there again.
