Writer's picture: Little PeteLittle Pete

We have the entire card covered today at Belmont and are looking to cash some tickets. I will be locked into the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 5-7). Big Pete will have his "Plays of the Day" as well as taking down the late pick 3 (Races 8-10). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R9: 1, 6, 7

R10: 4, 5, 7, 8

Cost: $48.00

Little Pete's $2.00 Early Double:

Race 1:

(7) Mach One is a maiden claimer that I am going to put a lot of trust in. This horse should be able to find the early lead and be able to sustain a big run throughout. I trust Irad choosing to ride to bully the other jockeys late and take this one. Sometimes in life you have to take risks..

$10.00 WIN 7 Cost: $10.00

Race 2:

(1) Robyn and Eli is a firster from Chad Brown with Laoban lineage. I love the post position and think this horse will show enough speed early on the rail to save all the ground and have a convincing stretch drive. (3) Can't Catch Kacy flattened late last time out and I think will be able to show a bit more late in here. (5) FontanaFredda is going to find the lead and I trust Luis Saez in front with a horse who had a nice debut. (10) Queens Dancer is a price that I like to show speed in here and handle the grass well. This horse should be directed to the lead and in these sprint races I like the aggressive horses.

$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 1,5 w/ 1,3,5,10 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 3,10 w/ 1,3,5,10 Cost: $6.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

Both (8) Seismic Wave and (4) ARTEMUS BRIDGE exit the same race where they faced much better. Artemus did not have the cleanest run that day and had no chance of catching the front runners with a slow pace. With the addition of Irad and the drop to this level, I think they can turn the table on the likely Chad Brown favorite. We won’t get the 10:1 ML but even half of that will be worth it.

(7) Sharp Prospect and (8) Seismic Wave are the choice to fill in the exacta.

$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 4, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 4:

(7) SPUN D’ETAT fresh off the Nevin claim is where I want to be. She lost to Shaker Shack last time as they let her go easy up front and no one caught her. Today we have another speed or two to help set up SPUN.

(2) Shaker Shack and (8) Big Al’s Gal are the choice to fill in the exacta.

$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 2, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

(2) Kreesa La Wrote has the post position and the late closing ability to run down the front runners. I think this horse will be aggressively placed on to the rail and then wait for the lane to open down the stretch to be a strong contender. (5) Highway Queen is a dangerous horse in here with Rosario going to allow this horse to show some early speed, but get a nice ground saving trip to save energy late. (7) Write this Down will be aggressively ridden in here as well and had a tough trip last time out which compromised her. I think this time out she will be involved early and that makes a big difference late. My last play will be (9) Uncle's Gem who is going to be a tough catch late and Irad will give this horse the best ride to win.

$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 2,9 w/ 2,5,7,9 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 5,7 w/ 2,5,7,9 Cost: $6.00

Race 6:

The two Chad Brown horses in here are must plays and I am leaning on (7) Fluffy Socks to be set up best late to run down the front running horses. (6) Plum Ali is going to be more aggressively ridden in here with the switch to Manny and we should expect this horse to have a much better finish in here with the improved position. My last play will be (3) Harajuku who had a tough break last time out and ran strongly late against (5) Higher Truth. We should trust this horse to improve from the break and improve at Belmont second time out.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 5,7 w/ 3,5,6,7 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 3,6 w/ 3,5,6,7 Cost: $6.00

Race 7:

(2) Hoopla has a favorable post position and will be poised come stretch drive to run down the front runners. This horse is in good enough form to make up a ton of ground late against this claiming level field. (6) Cousin Andrew is going to be directed towards the front early and this horse may be too good to catch late, especially with that bullet workout coming in. My last play will be (8) Litterbox who I am hoping isn't 3 or 4 wide come stretch drive and trust Eric Cancel to find the favorable lane down the stretch to pass horses that may engage in an early pace battle.

$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 2,6,8 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(2) ATHENA DANCER finally gets to stretch her legs as they let her go long on the turf. She’s been facing better sprinting and always came up short. Now they drop a little more and found the right group. (11) SUMMER IN THE CITY draws in for Pletcher. If Irad can save some ground somewhere, she has strong races in her pp’s that stack up well against this group. I want all of the 10:1 ML on (8) INFRINGEMENT. Her last two were against much better and posted high numbers than most of these. She’ll give the turf another try and gets a hot Davis. (6) FREEDOM MACHINE exits the same race as Infringement and beat her. She gets Saez back but hard to love when she’s 1 for 15.

$ 7.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 2, 8 w/ 2, 6, 8, 11 Cost $ 18.00

Race 9:

There’s two in here that re-introduce themselves to fellow NY Bred fillies. (7) MIA BEA STAR has races in her running line that would be good enough to handle these. She can go longer but the 6.5F fits her stalk and pounce style. I’ll take a shot with

(6) RAFFINITY who also won’t mind this distance. She won easy three back then didn’t fire at all against slightly better. I like the switch to Castellano for this Tonalist at a price. (1) QUANTITATIVEBREEZIN is the now horse after her blowout win last month. A Re-Pete of that will make her tough but I think she has company up front today.

$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 6, 7 w/ 1, 2, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00

Race 10:

It’s (7) ESCAPEWITHFRIENDS’ race to lose. Slow start and steadying down the backstretch took her right out the last race. Clean break against this similar group makes her the filly to beat. I like extra furlong for (8) NEWYORK DANCER. She too had some trouble in her last and a clean trip today puts her right there. I will land on (5) LEMON TAFFY on the cutback to 7F. Saez returns as they look to duplicate their run on 6/24 on this course. Enough speed in here to set them up. Speaking of speed, (4) LOVE’S MISERY will try to bottom this field out. Look for them in front early and try to hold on for a piece.

$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 5, 7 w/ 4, 5, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00
