Huge day of racing in NY on this beautiful Sunday in September. We are going to look to take down the entire card today with myself focused on the early double (Races 1& 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 5-7). Race 1:
I am taking a bit of a stand in this one. I think that the morning line favorite, (1) Shalimar Gardens, is going to be able to find the early lead and may be too good in here to pass late. How I am playing the race out in my head is that (3) Big City Momma is going to press the lead early and force an early run from (1) Shalimar Gardens. I think that opens up the lane late for (6) My Sunny Valentine to run down these tiring horses at a decent price. I will be sticking with the Ortiz brothers in here to get us through to the second leg.

Race 2:
We will now spread out in this one. (1) Pivotal Run is training well on dirt and I think should be in good position throughout to run down a tiring front runners. (2) Viking Zim has been improving each time out and I think will be in good form in here. Jose Ortiz will be aggressive early and against this field is where I would like my horse to be (7) Noble Journey is going to show early speed and getting a bit of class relief in here; I think that makes a big difference. (8) Ghostman from the Rudy Rodriguez barn with Saez aboard. We should expect this horse to have a front running effort in here and can't leave a speed horse with Saez aboard off our ticket. My last play will be (13) Sandro the Great who is going to be sent out from the gate and Johnny V will take no prisoners in this one. We should expect an aggressive ride throughout and that is the place to be for me.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
All eyes will be on the entry and the Brown runner. Rudy has two but one of them has many chances already and the other passed tiring horse that made him look good. I don’t trust Brown’s gelding as he’s just looking to unload this gelding from the barn. I like (4) UNCLEMO’S CAT. Jose returns to for another shot against Ginger as they finish a few lengths behind him last time. He ran ok against better runners last week and drops back down today.
I’ll use w/ (1) Entry and (6) Partner’s Hope

(6) Jill's a Hot Mess is coming in winning 3 of her last 4 and looks dangerous in here. This horse is going to show speed throughout and continues to ascend in form. (12) Kreesie gets a huge bump with Saez aboard and some cut back in distance. We should look for this horse to be on or right behind the lead and trust Saez to bully others late. (7) Timeless Journey is my top pick in here to sit behind the pace and have a late kick that hits the wire first. (9) Silky Blue is going to run a similar closing style and this horse is in great form with Manny aboard again.

Race 6:
(13) Let Her Insprie U gets dropped into this one and looks to be a tough catch. She will be ridden aggressively and that will be the place to be against this field unproven field. (12) Venti Valentine is a Jorge Abreu firster that we should expect to be ready to win first time out. Irad gets the mount and that is just an added bonus. (9) Trinity Titoli is a Rudy Rodriguez horse and his improvements with horses making their second trip out. Last play will be Saez aboard (2) Pimenova who will be sent to the lead with the favorable post position and should be able to save ground throughout; which pays off late.

Race 7:
(2) Prefect with blinkers looks dangerous to wire the field. This horse will be sent to the lead and not look back. I will include (5) Made My Day who will also be aggressively ridden and if (2) Prefect is off his game then this horse will benefit the most. (11) Public Information is coming in with good form and will be closing strongly late. Will include in case the race breaks down late from early speed.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
(7) MY LIPS ARE SEALED has enough speed to take them all the way. She beat open company on this course in June and now Johnny V takes the mount. (13) JUST OK IS NOT OK has gotten good recently and Pletcher is on fire. If Jose can save some ground at some point, they should be coming home the best late. (11) UNICORN SALLY dropped in for a tag to get the win. That was first time Saez and he shows up again. It was Sally’s best effort and they are looking for the Re-Pete. Brown is always dangerous so we’ll include maiden winner (8) MARVELOUS MAUDE as she gets back on the turf.

Race 9:
(1) BELLA SOFIA has been impressive so far and has faced old mares already. But this will be her biggest Test yet. If they leave her alone up front, she probably takes them all the way. I’m playing it as if she has company down the backstreet. That said, the race sets up perfect for the classy (4) LAKE AVENUE. She shows up every time and lost narrowly to the best sprinter out their last time. I’ll put her on top and also use the new shooter from Pletcher. (5) DON’T CALL ME MARY has gotten good fast. Her best race came on Big Sandy and if the two favorites go at it, she can come late and spoil the fun.

Race 10:
(13) HAPPY HILL LIL draws in and has turned it around after trying turf. A big run last time to break her maiden draw a big number that matches up well with this group. (5) LUCKY LATKES gets the jock switch to Jose. She was faster last year and may be just getting back to form now. Rough trip last time may have cost her a better placing so all systems go today. (9) THEODORA GRACE drops just enough to make her the horse to beat. Davis is riding good right now and they cut back to sprinting. (7) ATHENA DANCER also drops in for a tag and attracts Irad. She appears a little slower than these but that doesn’t matter when Ortiz Jr’s aboard.
