Little Pete's "Early" Double:
Race 1
(2) Bobby the Tank looks like the horse to beat in here on paper and will shoot from the gate to show off some improved speed. (4) Hot Rod Lincoln is a horse I like in here to sit right behind the pace and let loose come stretch drive under Trevor McCarthy. (10) Chasin’ You is an interesting firster in here getting the Luis Saez bump. This horse will have an aggressive ride from the outside and the workouts show that this horse can run. (11) Disarmed drops in to this one and will be the likely favorite with Flavien Prat aboard. We should expect this horse to have a nice rail position around the turn and close extremely strong from the outside.
$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 2,11 w/ 2,4,10,11 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 4,10 w/ 2,4,10,11 Cost: $6.00
Race 2:
Strong opinion alert: (2) Greeley and Ben. The 8 year old drops in class here and is running well enough to handle this field. I like this horse sitting to the inside of some speed and should be able to run past tiring horses at this level down the stretch. Jose Ortiz will have this horse involved throughout and I trust him to get this one done for us.
$20.00 WIN 2 Cost: $20.00
$5.00 Ex 2 w/ 3,6 Cost: $10.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3 :
(2) STATE CROWN moves back to the turf and ships in off a win. Her last two attempts at this distance were her best two races and she drops slightly. Connections are spotting her here just to get a picture in the Saratoga winners circle but don’t we all. (6) Athwaaq has speed to clear and they’ll have to catch her. (7) Charge Account is fresh off the Maker claim and wants a quick return on their investment.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Exacta Box 2, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00
We’ll also use (2) State Crown in R3 and try to cash a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We’ll use (2) Critical Threat and (5) Cousteau in the 4th.
$ 7.00 Double 2 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 14.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5 :
Both (6) Sheriff Bianco and (8) Athenry want the lead as they battled each other to defeat last time. I’m looking for déjà vu all over again. I’ll take a shot with (7) GIRAMONTE who finished behind those two last time. He gets a new rider and some serious speed up front as the two rail runners should join the Sheriff and Henry. A patient ride is needed and the front runners will eventually back up
$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Exacta Box 6, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00
We’ll also use (7) Giramonte in R5 and try to cash a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We’ll use (3) St. Benedicts Prep and (4) Pure Pauline in the 6th.
$ 7.00 Double 7 w/ 3, 4 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 7:
(2) Freydis the Red looks extremely strong in here under Junior Alvarado and I think will only improve in this one. (4) Free Look is coming into this one well bet and was in a compromised position last time out. We should expect a better ride in here and a much better outcome for this likely favorite. (9) Avant is an Uncle Mo that I like Irad Ortiz taking the mount for. This horse should excel on grass and have plenty of late speed to make this race very exciting. My last play will be (12) WelcomeToMyWorld is training extremely well on grass and should be able to find a rail position behind the pace. I don’t expect there to be too much early speed and this horse can navigate a trip to show off a late kick down the stretch.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 4,9 w/ 2,4,9,12 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 2,12 w/ 2,4,9,12 Cost: $6.00
Race 8:
Another strong opinion alert: (4) Boston Post Road. This horse just missed last time out at a mile and will have plenty of run in here in this sprint. Flavien Prat will not mess around in here and I think is worth risking a single on a horse that is trending in the right direction.
$20.00 WIN 4 Cost: $20.00
$5.00 Ex 4 w/ 2,6,8 Cost: $15.00
Race 9:
(1A) Catch The Party is my preferred horse in the entry, but I will take all the horses we can get in here. Irad is going to be able to close strongly against a field that should show some early speed and the likely winner in my head. (4) Timbuktu is going to want the lead early and Manny is riding extremely aggressive right now. (5) Frank’s Art is lightly raced and improves each time out. If this horse can take another step forward, then we should expect a big race in here. (6) Lord Flintshire is an impressive horse in here and I think will be cold on the board. Jose Lezcano should be aggressive from the jump and if left alone, then this horse has a chance to have a significant head start when coming around the turn.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,5 w/ 1,4,5,6 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 4,6 w/ 1,4,5,6 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 10:
The farther the better for (4) CAPE COD CAUSEWAY as this one likes to grind it out. 9F is the max for most race horses but this guy is built to motor along. (6) JOCOSITY might go off the favorite again. She seems long winded as well with Distorted Humer and SligoBay. Both should be battling the length of the stretch. I want the California Chrome who finished right behind both of them last time. (7) ARISAEMA was off slow and had to linger in the back. She closed the gap slightly but the pace was against her that day. The extra distance and with more speed entered, she figures to pounce late. (2) SUCCULENT has had many chances but the switch to turf and added distance is what this filly wants to do. She’ll be come late and could surprise them all
$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 6, 7 w/ 2, 4, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 11:
(5) JUST CINDY is one of several maiden winners in here that looked impressive first out. She followed that up with the G3 Schylerville. Until she does something wrong, I can’t leave her out. (6) LEAVE NO TRACE was geared down crossing the finish line in her debut. Serpe is having a great meet with limited runners. The 7F should not ne n issue. I want the Amerian Pharoah runner (10) AMERICAN ROCKETTE. She made up a lot of ground through the stretch and did it with little effort. With speed signed on and the extra distance, this gal will offer a late charge to nail them late. Georgees Spirit exited that same race and won easy Thursday. (9) WONDER WHEEL should go off the favorite with a dominate performance in the Debutante at Churchill. Hard to leave off the ticket in here.
$ 7.00 WPS 10 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 5, 10 w/ 5, 6, 9, 10 Cost $ 18.00
Race 12:
With Brown as part of the entry, they will be tough in here. I prefer (1) TOUGH STREET on the switch back to dirt. Others in here are interesting though. (6) QUIET TYPE also moves to the dirt and retains Saez. She did ok when sprinting to start her career. (3) MOULY ships in and attracts Irad. The barn is having a good meet and has speed to either go or stalk. She’s probably the main danger to the entry. I want (7) DOROTHY’S THE BOSS to be the boss in here. She drops slightly and has handled the dirt in the past. I’m drawing a line through her last one as she didn’t run at all. It’s a good sign that Jose stays after that race and he must see something there.
